In the renovation of Bhairavanathıs temple various religious bands and trusts, as well as industrialists and businessmen donated remarkable and exemplary amounts of money and personal labor. The renovation was completed successfully and under budget because people had pride in their cityıs heritageespecially carpenters, masons and workers. But other political parties wanted to monkey wrench the project. They donıt build structures and donıt allow others to build them. All they do is complain.

 Keeping your left side toward the building, walk around the corner, and jump up on the ledge between the 55-Window Palace [R] and the Loha: dega: [V]. Keep moving. In less than 30 feet you will be standing in front of the Rana style municipal building. Used as the magistrateıs palace during the Rana period and as the seat of the Nagar Panchayat before 1990, this is currently the offices of the locally elected NeMaKiPa municipal government. While a new structure was built to the east of the city, this is Bhaktapurıs de facto city hall.
While national politics is of great importance, in Bhaktapur the municipal level holds at least as much significance. One of the side effects of globalization is a localization of power that has tended to weaken the national government and correspondingly strengthen the municipal governments.
